How to Contain a Stone Base Foundation

BedRock Siteworks uses three different methods to contain a stone base foundation. In all cases, at least 5 inches of certified drain stone is used on a level, compacted bed and provides proper drainage.

Economy Stone Base Foundation

This foundation is provides a stable stone base foundation for the least cost. An earthen berm is used to contain the drainage stone.

Standard Stone Base Foundation

The popular standard containment includes a border of 4” X 6” or 6” X 6” pressure-treated wood secured with ½” X 24” steel rebar. This border keeps the stone in place and creates a distinct perimeter around the structure. Geotextile fabric placed within the border to stabilize the stone base and also to prevent weed growth. Six inches of certified drain stone insures quick drainage and a dry floor.
